  1. Default Mystery snails & fry

Anyone know if large Mystery Snails can attack
small fry at night when they're sleeping?
I had a bunch of new fry disappear over the past week and
    that may be the explanation.

I wouldn't think the MS could catch live fry, but I could be wrong...if the fry are dying first, then the snails will definately snack on the corpses

What fry are you talking about? Swimming fry like those of tetras, danios, etc should be safe because they swim and sleep in the open. I have the feeling though that with small fry that sit around and haven't gained full mobility like young catfish fry and those that still have yolks the snail might accidentally run over them

I dont see it happening. Any fry that a snail could catch would have to be dying.

I'm talking about swimming angel fry.
And YES, they do sleep on the bottom at night
    when the light is off.
    They're only 2 weeks old.
I usually leave the light on the first couple of weeks
but in this case I forgot to unplug the timer for
    that tank.
Also: I have not seen a single dead one yet,
so I'm confused. No other fish in with them,
no cats or anything, just big snails.

Do you have another tank you could put the snails in temporarily?

The angel fry shouldnt fear the snail... They should be fine. The if the snail gets even close to the free swimmers they will dart away.

    I've already done that.
And I don't think I'm loosing any more now.
But out of about 300 fry I have about half as many
    as I started with.
I think I would have seen some dead ones if they were dieing, I really think the snails got them.
I never had a problem before, but like I said,
I always kept the light on before so they never
slept on the bottom till they were bigger.
Oh well, just curious to anyone's seeing this before.
