    Default Air stone for betta

    0 Not allowed!
    Hello everyone.

I know I have read that my betta does not need an air stone, but his tank mates do. I got one today but it is so powerful that it makes a pretty strong current, which of course my betta does not approve of. Can anyone recommend a more gentle air stone? I have a tetra air pump if it matters. Thank you in advance!

We might be better able to help you if you let us know what size your tank is and what size tank the air pump rated for.

... and just out of curiousity, what are your betta's tank mates?

Air stones are often appreciated for their decorative effect. They actually add extremely little air when the bubbles travel up, the surface agitation provided by them will have more effect. A filter outflow placed just above the water level will likely add more air to the water.

There's taps available that you can place in the air hose and throttle the supply of air traveling trough it. If your local shop doesn't have them have a look at ebay.

Aquarium stores sell "T" valve connectors that let you regulate the air flow to the air stone.
