Glass-top: 55 gallon
So I haven't posted anything in a very long time, but I really need some info.
I've recently bought a 55 gallon tank and am looking for some glass tops/lids to help with water evaporation, however I can't for the life of my find any that are the right size! I need 2 tops, 23" by 11", or 11 1/4" would also work. Anyhow, the only sizes i am able to find are 20" or 24" long, which will not work. Do I need to get some custom made or does anyone know of a place where they sell that size? I'm in Abbotsford BC, any information anyone has would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
*also if anyone has any tops they are no longer needing or wanting to get rid of I'd be interested in those as well!

I haven't purchased any lately, but I've been told that getting custom glass isn't very dear. You could also craiglsit or kijiji for used glass (old windows or tabletop) and buy a glass cutter.
I'm almost sure that you will pay more at a fs for a glass lid than you would at a glass place. The only thing you'd be wanting is the plastic pivot if you wanted to be able to just flip up the lid for feeding.

If it is a standard sized 55 gallon tank, your local Petland should be able order in the Marineland glass tops for you.
At least they can out here in SaskatchewanIf you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

Thanks guys, I will check with Petland to see about ordering them in, as far as i know it's a standard size tank, I could be wrong though. I'd prefer not to have to cut my own glass so hopefully i can find some.

If you know if the tank is Aqueon or Marineland will help. The brands have slightly different sizes. I order my glass tops online but I dont know how expensive shipping would be for you.

Good ideas above.
Do consider surfing through the phone book and see if any glass shops are local, Check the hardware stores also [My local cuts glass & I had tops for a 55g cut for a grand total of 11$. :-D]. It's worth a few phone calls.
BTW - The hinges aren't very expensive, IIRC I got a 6' piece of it for 20$.

Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.
Why pretend there are no stupid questions? Actually, There are many stupid questions: "Should I drink this bleach?" Is just one example.
Having said that, Just because it's a stupid question doesn't mean that it shouldn't be asked. It's better to know.

*lady10godiva, not sure what make the tank is, it was sold with it's stand and wood canopy and had no brands on it.
Thanks for all the input! :)

I had this problem myself, I was able to find the tops by Perfecto that you are inquiring about.
If you have a Marineland/Perfecto top this is it... fits perfectly on my 55G setup. Glass comes in two pieces.
Hope this helps.
