I think I have my first AIPTASIA anemone. It is located under my button coral. It's getting quite large and looks a little on the brown/yellow side.
Should I remove the button coral and take the aiptasia off it or should I just let it be and watch this creature?

I will warn you, I hate aipatasia so I am more than a little one-sided in my opinions about it.

When or if I see one in my tank, I will either remove what ever the aiptasia was sitting on and nuke it good, or, I will use the product in the below link. The company that makes that stuff is also located in the same city as you so you should be able to find it OK if you want to give it a try

    http://tailoredaquatics.com/reef/aiptasia-destroyer/

The reason why I hate aiptasia so much, is that it can quickly take over a tank. I saw it happen to a friend of mine so I`m little a little extreme about it now.
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

Just keep in mind, this stuff will work on ANY anemone, even your bubble tip.

Make sure you cut all flow in the tank so this stuff won't drift over to your BTA. Everything should work fine if you do that.

So I know it's been awhile since I first posted that my button coral has a aiptasia or glass anemone on it. I bought aiptasia-x awhile ago but have held off using it because I have a bubble tipped anemone in the tank. After some thinking I decided to remove the button coral from the bottom of the tank and place it very quickly into a plastic specimen container which I have hanging from the rim of the tank. The container contains tank water and is sitting in the tank water so the temperature will remain tank temperature. I got out the bottle of aiptasia-x and the syringe. Shook the living day lights out of the bottle of liquid and filled the syringe. Now the instructions say to slowly release the product into the water close to the aiptasia and slowly move the tip into the tentacles to cover the disk.
Here is what I found; once you start to slowly release the liquid, it just keeps coming out of the tip. It is fairly heavy and will sink to the bottom so you need to work fairly fast.
I was able to cover the glass anemone with the liquid before it tried to close up. It looks promising so far(still in the container after 20 minutes), and we will take the coral out shortly.
Fingers crossed. Thanks Cliff for reminding me that aiptasia-x works against anemones, even the ones you want to keep. Thats why I choose the container method.

get an eyedropper or syringe and inject the aiptasia with pure lemon juice. shrivels them right up. too much may lower your ph.

trying to pick them off will only induce them to release 'spores' to spread.
    Thar she blows!!!

Lemon juice eh? Nice, I didn't know that.
The aiptasia on the button coral is history today which I feel good about. Will be on the watch for more.
Also last night I found a huge glass anemone in my quarantine tank on the live rock I'm cycling. The lfs store says the rock is tank ready but after finding a slight ammonia reading in the water from the bag, I have always placed the new rock in my 10 gallon with a power head to cycle. This aipatasia was huge! The tentacle would easily go around a nickel. I used the rest of the syringe from the above treatment on this fellow last night and he/she/it is totally dust. Gotta say for spot treating it works.

That stuff has always worked great for me the few times I have needed it. That is exactly why I will now re-cure any live rock that I add to any of my set-ups.

I have read the lemon juice works really good as well.

I just found one in my tank. The little bastard is on of the bottom rocks in my tank meaning I'd have to completely take down my rock. I'm thinking of getting a peppermint shrimp now for mine.
