Did I misunderstand or did you already dose with medication? If so, don't increase the heat OR do a large water change and add new carbon back in to get ride of the meds. You don't want to use Heat & medication. One or the other. Both could stress them over the top and kill them.

Ick falls off the fish and reproduces on the bottom of the tank in about 5 days. You have to make sure you continue to retreat after that reproduction stage. Since you did not see any Ick on Tuesday, that simply means they were reproducing so once again have a new batch.

Best to quarantine new fish so you aren't introducing them to the other fish. Ick will die without a food source which is the blood they feed on. I do not believe they can lay dormat.

I give new fish a heat treatment while they are in quarantine to ensure that the fish are ich free. Something to think about. Even if they are not showing spots, they can carry the parasite in their gills out of sight.

I took jaysee's advice when I had my recent ick outbreak. Two weeks at 87-88 deg, no meds and my normal maintenance routine. The ick on the fish disappeared after about 3 days, but I continued the high heat treatment for the full 2 weeks. I have had no recurrence. I lost 2 rainbows to the ich (they had the most spots) and 1 tetra (who wasn't feeling well before the treatment). All my other fish came thru fine.

Yes, fishmommie, I DID start the med again so no, I thought about increasing heat but then did not, as I recalled I am not to do both. I was a tad confused. Thanks so much everyone. I think I just stopped treatment too soon and as Lady Hobbs said a few invisible ich fleas were left behind. I appreciate all the replies. Will let you know how it goes.

Once you learn how to treat it you won't even flinch when you see it :-)
