Amano's work is a source of inspiration for many. That tank sits in his own home I believe. Personally I find his work rather stylized, I've enjoyed Heiko Bleher's biotope aquariums much more.

Amano was here in Atlanta a few years ago, for a convention. He aquascaped a tank from whatever plants he could find there, was surprised it came out looking so well in that short a time.
I've never had that eye for aesthetics, my planted tanks look like overgrown messes.

If you want inspiration for the rest of us, Danish plant nursery tropica has layouts on their site: http://www.tropica.com/en/layouts.aspx

Dead easy and visually interesting because of the vanishing point and the different heights of the plants.
