Lymphocystis? Or something else??
I have a ram cichlid with what first appeared to be ich, so I treated for ich, only to realize that the condition was growing worse. In addition, as the symptoms grew worse, the white spots grew in length, so the fish appears to have little white threads hanging from her fins. Some of the white spots have also increased in size and appear lumpy. The spots on the ram cichlid are pure white, and though her symptoms first became visible before Thanksgiving (so nearly a month ago) none of the other fish (none of them cichlids) in the tank have developed any symptoms at all. The white threads/lumps appear ONLY on the cichlid's fins and tail, not on her body. After two full-course treatments with Rid-Ich, I treated twice three days apart for external parasites with Jungle brand Parasite Clear, again with no effect. I have been unable to find photos to help me identify this parasite, and my local aquarium store has recommended KanaPlex as a treatment. What do you think??
