    Default Cochu's Blue Tetra

I'm always trying to recommend fish that you might be able to find at your LFS. Here's one that you probably see every once in awile, Cochu's blue tetra; Boehlkea fredcochui. Hardier than alot of sources state, the one time I kept them, I found them very enjoyable. Some sources state them as being "nippy" but kept in good numbers this should not be a problem. In the tank I kept them in were Boesemani rainbows, Congo tetras and Cumings barbs, so I never noticed any nipping.

Evidently the fish we thought for years was Boehlkea fredcochui is actualy; Knodus borki (thank you Green toads), story here:,d.cGE. Anyway both species (very hard to tell apart) are very colorful and desirable to keep as true blue fish seem hard to find in the trade.

    More information on them here:,d.cGE
