Default trying to ID this plant

I got this plant from my friends pond and I am testing it in my aquarium overhead tank to see if it will acclimate to the aquarium environment. The next question is.... What type of plant is it. If it helps, I can say that it came out of a stream fed pond here in Connecticut. Other than that I know zilch about plants. I have had a cat tail in the overhead for a week now and it is doing wonderful, it is even starting to bloom, so I moved it into the display- where my Angel, Severum and gold rams are starting to nibble at it, the severum made it a point to go straight for the flower and start eating, so I had to raise it up until the bud is out of the water. Lets hope it fares well with these silly fish!

It's probably some type of hornwort. If it is, it will grow in just about any light.

That would be a bonus! I was planning on getting a bunch of hornwort. My lighting works out to be about 1.9 watts/gal. 36"T5 ho 2x39 watts @6700K. Does this stuff propigate on its own? I added liquid fert to the water and now it's time to wait and watch. Thanx for the reply!

Yeah when it grows tall, cut the top and replant it. Keep doing this until you have as much as you want/need. It should grow fine in that light.

leaf structure lets me think of a myriophyllum. hornwort leaved branch out from the same base like a fan, myriophyllum has a central shaft with
    filaments coming off it.

extremely shabby plant, came out of a pond. They don't seem to be taking to the environment very well yet. I will wait 2 more days and if they aren't looking any better, I will remove them and wait for proper plants.

Might be a bit short. Plants acclimatize to big changes and can lose bits and pieces in the process.
