Post Stocking ideas for my 20 gallon freshwater.

I have had 1 fancy goldfish in there but I thinking of rehoming him. I see that even a 20 gallon is not really the best for him. I am looking for ideas for fish. Not crazy about bottom feeders or catfish, also looking for fish that are hardy and easy. for example don't chichilds need a different food? I am not at all familiar with them and yet am interested. Keeping in mind that a 20 gallon is not really that big.

However we live in a very small house and actually truly all I have room for! That and my 29 gallon. The 20 is in my bedroom and I just love to watch the fish so maybe a fish that is active and interesting? Or a group?

I have red eyed tetra school and some platys in my 29 so not looking for those particular ones.

    thanks all!

I've realy come to like my Green neons so I would recomend a school of 20 of those to you. A like school of Ember tetras would also look nice. Or a school of 15 Harlequin rasboras would also work.

Go with a dark substrate and background and do the neons, silver tip tetras or even some rummynose tetras. That way you'll be able to see some color moving around in a group.

Hardwater? Softwater? Planted? What filter do you have?

School of tiger barbs maybe. If you did a species-only you could do 10-12 tiger barbs.

Threadfin Rainbows are a great fish that would work in a 20 gallon.
