  1. Unhappy Are My Guppies Pregnant?

    0 Not allowed!
I just purchased 1 male and 2 female guppies from the pet shop. They said my guppies aren't pregnant but to me it looks like they are! Can someone tell? And if so what stage are they at? THANKYOU

This is the youtube video of the guppies..

seriously all responses are appreciated! I was driving myself crazy today, 10 pet stores and EVERY female guppy pregnant. Even the ones I thought weren't ended up being

They don't look pregnant to me but give them just a bit of time... They will be.

.. It's just what guppies do [Livebearers in general really].

    Gas mileage isn't everything OIIIIIIIO
Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.
Why pretend there are no stupid questions? Actually, There are many stupid questions: "Should I drink this bleach?" Is just one example.
Having said that, Just because it's a stupid question doesn't mean that it shouldn't be asked. It's better to know.

Well ...first of all--> Calm down

Didn't notice/couldn't tell they were gravid. Livebearers tend to do nothing but reproduce so .. Like I said; If they aren't.. They will be

.. And soon. It's just the way it works.

Haha my apologies! I was trying to breed them on my own and not purchase pregnant guppies! So I could predict when they would have their frye, but now I'm clueless.. They chase eachother around and the male swims around at least one female constantly. It seems like they all want to mate

The males are literally relentless in their pursuit. This is why it is beneficial & suggested to have at least a three to one F/M ratio so that the girls get a turn to rest occasionally. They can get stressed otherwise and this leads to health issues.

The gestation period for guppys is 3 or 4 weeks BTW, What sized tank is this [Cycled ?] and what are your plans for the fry?

I'm definitely getting another female, I went to 10 different pet stores trying to find another a frye free guppy (useless). Thankyou for all the help by the way! It's a 10 gallon tank, filtered, heated, with live plants and live food. I get my water tested once a week as well! Depending on the amount of frye I get and the amount of friends who would like to take care of them, I'll most likely keep the rest

    YVW

You will need a far bigger tank as you will be over run rather quickly by fry IMO [Dependent upon the amount of cover in the tank as this will have a large effect on your survivor rate.]

FYI [In case you didn't know] Guppies can have upwards of 50 fry at a time, Even IF you only have a batch every other month and a third survive well... .. I leave the math up to you.

Is your tank cycled? Are you familiar with cycling? How long has it been set up?
