Thread: Great...

    When going to Petsmart today to check if they had the fish I needed in stock(which they didn't and haven't for 2 months), I noticed something new. They are now selling new colors of the "electric green tetra", orange and pink. This really put my hopes down for the future. If they continue this, maybe one day 1/4 of the fish being sold at petsmart will be dyed... Hopefully, they will only do this with tiger barbs and the tetra color variation, because I would hate to show up one day and see catfish or loaches(or anything) like this. I strongly am against the glo-fish tanks mainly because of the size, and these new fish pretty much promote it. Of course, I knew these were already sold, but never before at petsmart! Has anyone else seen this?

    These fish are not dyed, they are genetically engineered. http://blog.petsolutions.com/live-fi...een-tetra.html
    When I go fishing I just place a sharp rock in the water and sit there waiting for all the dead fish to float to the top... Kingfisher

    I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.

    Sorry about that, I should of said that instead. I couldn't think of the wording, so I just out dyed, which is incorrect. Thank you for correcting me.

    I think they are ugly and agree it's a sad situation. I understand why the danios were originally created and can see why they would be useful for the research, but I hate seeing all these fish on the market.

    People in your country buy them so shops stock them. Personally I hope the block on genmod animals will hold in Europe.

    I was just saying that the fact that more are now sold by petsmart means more of these in the future, sadly. I hope they don't introduce any more baloon fish /;

    Sadly I think the future is bleak for those of us who understand/care how awe full these fish are... The more stupid people see's them and buys them the more they will be stocked. The general public doesn't want nor cares to understand.

    You can report your distaste, as a customer, to the manager of petsmart and/or corporate. The manager may be in the position to pick/choose which fish they stock, or at least be able to bring your complaints to a District Manager or someone in corporate. Worth a shot, anyway. Nothing gets done if a problem isn't noted.
