    Default School of rummynose tetras?

Would these little fella's outrun my angel and severum? I saw these at the LFS and thought they would look cool in my 150- thinking that 20ish would look outstanding. Not trying to feed the other fish though. The tank mates that I'm worried about are the severum and the angel and my 2 iridescent sharks (still under 5 inches long and they are only temporary, as they get enormous). Everyone else will be fine with them.

I would not chance it; even if the Rummy noses were full grown. The Angel and severum were pretty close to full grown if I remember right?

I used to have rummys in with four 5" or 6" angels in a heavily planted 90 and on occasion I would see the angels stalking the rummys through the plants.

Mind you I never saw them get one but they were definitely interested at times. It took a long time to tell [Planted too heavy to try to count them] but eventually I pulled the rummys as I started to notice their numbers shrinking due to apparently successful hunting by the angels.

Rummys look so delicious that it's a temptation that larger angels succumb to eventually IME.

Why pretend there are no stupid questions? Actually, There are many stupid questions: "Should I drink this bleach?" Is just one example.
Having said that, Just because it's a stupid question doesn't mean that it shouldn't be asked. It's better to know.

Here's a bigger tetra that would work with your fish, Bleeding hearts.

the angel and the severum are only about 3 inches without fins, but no sense in putting the little fellas in harms way. I had a feeling that it would be a no go, but it never hurts to ask. TGhanks guys.

Results are mixed with angels. Some people manage it, others see the stock slowly dwindle. It does seem to work with discus more often than not though. With severums it would end up being a school of live food I think. Bleeding hearts or the others of that body shape would make a better choice. Their shape makes them difficult to swallow and they also have an attitude. Do get a sizeable school though, if you got the room at the very least 10. These are prone to squabble amongst themselves.

I have a school of 7 rummys with a mated pair of angels and my male is really large. I've had these together for over a year with no aggression from the angels. I will say, however, that the rummys generally stay close to the bottom, hidden in the back among the plants and I barely ever see them. They make a loop around a piece of driftwood I have from time to time, which is how I keep count of them.

I've got a friend who has a school of glass catfish that do that. To me it suggest that even though thhey don't get eaten it's not a good combination. The fish are under constant predator threat and hide. Even though that combination works as in fish don't get eaten it's also not a setup where you get all the benefits of your fish.

I would go for bigger tetra with your sev's. I will boast Congo's to be a good choice alone with columbian's. Also, remmeber that anything that has Congo's as an option has rainbows of all sort in play. You could even go with Celebes Blue Eyes.

it just so happens that the only 2 fish that arent SA in my tank are Melanotaenia Boesemani's They are great fish, they taunt the angel fish something wicked but he doesnt stand a chance in Hades of catching them. Even tho it voids the premise of being a SA only tank, I was considering getting 10 more MB. I also want 2 more Heros severus.
