Pristine water conditions are the most effective route to healing and preventing popeye but having said that..You left out a lot of relevant details.

    A few questions:
Can you be more specific wrt the med? ['Liquid' doesn't tell us anything.]
    What are your water parameters?
    Is it an injury?
How long has he had it?
    What size is the O?
How long has he been in that tank?

Also, You should be aware that a 50G tank is not big enough for an adult ocsar, A 75G is the minimum for a solo O IMO/E.
    Gas mileage isn't everything OIIIIIIIO
Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.
Why pretend there are no stupid questions? Actually, There are many stupid questions: "Should I drink this bleach?" Is just one example.
Having said that, Just because it's a stupid question doesn't mean that it shouldn't be asked. It's better to know.

A warm beer is better than a cold beer. Because nothing is better than a cold beer, and a warm beer is better than nothing.

    sorry about your oscar
can you tell us what other fish are in the tank and what your water change schedule is? IE: how often do you change the water in the tank and how much water do you change out?

In the meantime, here's a link that explains the most common cause and type of popeye and how to treat.

Your fish needs clean water to heal. Start with a 50% water change daily for a few days and see how that helps.

    Ninja'd by both of you!

Is the eye bulging out or completely out of the socket?

When I go fishing I just place a sharp rock in the water and sit there waiting for all the dead fish to float to the top... Kingfisher
Brutal honesty will be shown on this screen.
I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.
Tolerance is a great thing to have, so is the ability to shut up.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

your very poor water quality has caused the popeye. Ammonia and nitrites should always be 0. Nitrates under 20. You need to do another large water change and keep doing them until you get that water in the safe level. this may take daily changes. big ones.
And has been said, your fish needs a larger tank.

You need to change more water - These are not acceptable conditions and you are seeing the results.

Do at least 50% a week.
Zero is the only acceptable number for NitrItes and ammonia.

IMO he is stunted already, My Baby Oscar went from 2.5" to nearly 9" in 8 months [In a much bigger tank]. What are the dimensions of the tank?
