    Check out low light plants.
Java fern comes to mind as a start. Just don't bury it in the gravel. Tie it to some rock or driftwood with fishing line and see how it does.
Research low light plants on google or here and if all goes well and try a few of the suggested ones.

    gotcha, makes sense.

I got paranoid and just tied them all to a rock.

OP-my vals are growing likes weeds in my low tech set up. I've got 15 bunches of them, and each are putting off runners already.
Also, i'm trying out java fern and anubias too.

It tends to rot if you bury the roots.

25w over 30inches really will be a problem though.

The java fern might grow but you really don't have many options.

Would you considder upgrading your lights?
Used to try and keep track of my fish here.....

Ran out of room and time!!!

Instead I'll tell you the best piece of fishkeeping equipment ever....... Algae Scrubber :)

If you bury the rhizome, then the rhizome will rot.

    Thanks Kim,

I've attached them all to their respected rock so the roots can grow on it.

but +1 to considering to upgrade your lighting OP, I don't think 30watts will do you you anything
