Free swimming! These are so hard to catch...not quite sharp enough.

    A red for comparison.

    My favourite shot so far:

    Another ok contrast example.

Can you share what camera settings you are using in these shots?

    Here's the stats...

    Camera: Canon EOS 550D
    Lens: Canon Macro 100mm
Aperture: f2.8 (some other shots were f3.2, f4 or f5.6)
Exposure: 1/200sec (some other shots were 1/125sec and 1/500sec)
ISO: 3200 (they'd be less grainy at lower ISOs and were I more patient I would use it and sacrifice the exposure time)
Exposure bias: -0.3step (I find tank shots tend to have blown highlights a lot of the time...I could probably address this by switching from spot metering to evaluative, although that can throw off the autofocus...I'm too lazy to use manual!)
Other: No flash, spot metering, aperture priority setting, autofocus.

Hold your breath when you squeeze the shutter to avoid camera shake

Look forward to seeing your shots

Those are neat shrimp, good luck with them, I hope they continue to thrive in your tank. I really like the last picture of the red and blue together, but the free swimming is my favorite.
People say if you can't say something nice then don't say anything at all... Then they wonder why am I so quiet.
Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you are stupid and make bad decisions.

I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.
A moderator on a fish forum should be able to identify an oscar... Don't you think?

Those are awesome! I'd love some, but they'd get gobbled up by my fish.
I hate hearing people say "it's only a $3/$5/$1 fish/shrimp, so it's ok if it dies, I can just get another." It's still an animal! All animals should be treated like they're worth $10,000.

ALL of those pics are awesome, IMO...thanks for sharing firefly...my daughter wanted those blue jellies to start our shrimp keeping experience, but the price and my 0% experience with shrimp steered me towards RCS, which we enjoy daily

Great little shrimp you got there, Firefly. Love the photos, especially the one you're most fond of. That could have won POTM.

I just bought a macro lens, so I hope that I can get clear close-up shots of these bite-sized little morsels... I mean tiny creatures. =X
