Default Need a tip to find replacement for plastic strip

I need one of these.... http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Produc...=2004%20113765

But have nothing to order to make it worth my while for shipping etc. Any idea what I could use in its place... looking for something I should be able to find locally. I will need it b/c I am probably going to end up with a canister filter, even though mine is cut for a HOB filter

Can you do without it until the next time you put in a big enough order so shipping is free? Evaporation will increase a tad, but not all that much.

Oh, are you talking about the plastic strip in the back?

Can you cut out a piece of a cheap food storage container (same color as the plastic strip in the back) and silicone it in place to cover the existing opening for the HOB?

When in doubt, do a water change.

I've been able to buy it a local fish store. The usual petsmart/petco type stores don't carry them. Call around and see if any of the non chain type stores have any.

Alright, I'll call around a bit. Good idea with siliconing a piece in (not like people can see it

Right, and I'm sure you're a master, as I am, at soothing out excess silicone.

..Taurus is smooth like Larry Carlton :-P.

IIRC I bought a 6' hinge from petland a few years ago so they may have the other items on that page, It's def worth a few phone laps to check.
    Gas mileage isn't everything OIIIIIIIO
Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.
Why pretend there are no stupid questions? Actually, There are many stupid questions: "Should I drink this bleach?" Is just one example.
Having said that, Just because it's a stupid question doesn't mean that it shouldn't be asked. It's better to know.

A warm beer is better than a cold beer. Because nothing is better than a cold beer, and a warm beer is better than nothing.
