At 9 years it's probably a bit sluggish to shoot when compared to todays cameras. Might wanna look into Canon's S-series. Pretty competent purse-sized cameras on full auto and enough hidden horsepower to make it useable to your other half for when he forgets the big camera.

Hadrian's wall, now that I would like to see!! The Romans were not the nicest people but as engineers there's not much wrong you can say about them.

Well, there's not too much left...but it is still very cool. It's just the sense of history...and of standing in the same place people did so many years ago...

...and we're not all that different. Apparently the Roman ladies sent out invites to birthday parties too...:D

I've never seen much appeal in Hadrian's Wall - I don't know why. I guess it's because there's not a lot to see now. Philistine, I know.

I've been to Stone Henge a couple of times though...the days I went it was pretty deserted so it was good. Appalling they used to hand out little picks and hammers so people could take home a souvenir!

I agree with you there...there's no need to take a bit of rock as a souvenir...odds are it will end up tossed out not long after regardless...best to leave it put.

Old Sarum was quite amazing too...again, not much to see...but I'm still flabbergasted when I think of how many of those small 'flintrocks' (or whatever they're called) it took to build the place...and then to have most of it hauled away to build other things.

I'm all for waste not want not...but still...

I think us Brits take it for granted that there are standing stones, stone circles, ancient monuments and castles all over the place. You don't tend to be that bothered about them when they're on your doorstep. My primary school was opposite a ruined castle. There was one in every town where I grew up.

I suppose you're right...but I'm from the land where anything close to a 100 years old is considered to be ancient...
