Thread: Rosy Tetras

Hybrid View

  1. Default Rosy Tetras

Ok, I'll be moving my goldfish out of the indoor tank and I'm looking at introducing Rosy Tetras. This is a 30 g tank, and their 'friends' will be 2 oto algae eaters and 2 south american catfish. Do you think will be suitable? I was reading that they recommend at least 6 to school, should I add them all at once?

    Thanks,

Good tank mates and if your tanks cycled; you can add them all. The Oto's and I assume they are Cory's realy should be kept in bigger schools for them to realy be happy.

Great choice with the Rosy's by the way. One of my favorites. You might consider 8.

the catfish are little south american bumblebees. kind of reclusive. I may see one every few days at night. The otos are the little algae eaters. I only have 2. With the goldfish wintering in the aquarium this last year, I didn't want to overload it any more than I had. Should I have more than 2 of those?
I want to have fish that the catfish can't eat, enough that I can enjoy and they can be happy without making it too confining. Does that make sense? Am I doing this right?

The Bumblebees should be fine but I would increase your Oto's to five. Their shape makes the Rosy's a good choice because the bumblebees can't swallow them. Watch out that an Oto does not go missing. Bumblebee's are realy nocturnal fish that like to hunt when the lights are out.

Ok, sounds good. I've had the cats for about 3 months, got them at about the same time as the Otos. The Otos must must hide really well too.
So with 6 Tetras, 5 Otos, and 2 2 inch cats...I won't overwork this tank?
Btw, I have a penguin 200 and a tetra 20/40 hobs. I added ceramic bio media rings to the penguin

I don't think you will "overwork" the tank and I still think 8 Rosy's will still work.
