    Hi guys,

Sorry to have been MIA for so long guys.

Some of you already know but I changed careers last year and it's been a difficult year for me as I've been learning LOADS of new stuff. Loved every minute though.

There was a disaster in my reef tank also last year which caused a bit of lack of interest in the hobby, I've been ticking over at best since.

Basically, bless her, my wife confused a bottle of EI Plant fertaliser with a bottle of Calcuim and dosed about 2 years worth of Nitrate and phoshphates into the tank and overwhelmed the filteration.

I lost NO fish which is a testiment to the power of my algae scrubber but I did loose most of my LPS and SPS. Since then my rock and sand have been leeching phosphates and the tank has suffered algae every day since. I've never been able to get it out so the only option is to replace the rock.

So finally after a bit of planning, rock and sand replaced, some new equipment bought to improve things and move on, fish and corals temp homed and things truely getting on.

    Here is my new thread.

Forgot to add aswell, I was loosing fish slowly one by one and hearing alot of clicking.

I'm smashing all my old rock up and searching for the mantis. Not sure whether to respect it for the killer it is and setup a tank especially for it or BBQ the little sod, he's cost me HUNDREDS of pounds.

You can see why I've gone for dead rock and not live, too many pests lol

If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

You're getting old when you get the same sensation from a rocking chair that you once got from a roller coaster.

Welcome back. Sorry to hear of your problems. That shrimp sounds like a real PITA. Looking forward to your further updates.
