Default How to up-load pictures from your computer

There are two ways to post pictures on the forum. You can use a URL from is you have a account on another site (like Photobucket), or your can up-load pictures directly from your computer. I will show you how to up-load them from your computer

First, start a thread or post just as you normally would. When you want to up-load a pic, click on the icon that looks alike a picture of a tree

A new window will pop up. Next click on on the bottom right hand corner where it says. "basic up-loader". Note, you might first have to click on "From Computer" on the top left before the option to click on the basic up-loader will appear.

On the new window that pops up click on "Browse"

In the new window that opens, find the picture you want to up-load and double click on it

If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

After double clicking on the picture you want to up-load, a new window will pop up, click on up-load files

You will be taken back to the post / thread you were creating and you will now see some programming text inserted into your post to show the file will be up-loaded once you click on create thread or post reply

Once you click on create thread or post quick reply, you new thread/post will be created with the picture up-loaded

If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

Thanks Cliff. Does this mean no more resizing? You can post photos directly from your own PC that you downloaded from you camera without messing with the size?

Also, I decided to check this out in a PM (as opposed to in a thread) - but in the PM when you click on the tree, it does not give you an option of 'from computer' or 'from url'. it only offers 'from url'. is that a glitch or will that be changed?

Thanks again - and GORGEOUS photo, btw! The tank is stunning!

Thanks Cliff! Has anything been done to stop pop ups from openning in another tab as well as an enhanced image box in-screen?

Cliff, I tried that method MANY times, and kept getting an error message within the "basic uploader" window after the image was uploaded...don't remember the error code at the moment, this was at home when I tried, and am at work now...

I have to use Photobucket to insert images, as is described in the "How To" sticky...works fine that way

I do believe PMs are set-up differently, only URLs can be used to post pics in PMS. As for the max file size, I know there is one, but I have not reached it yet so I'm not too sure what it is. Provided the max file size is not reached, you can up-load directly from your camera or camera's memory card.

Sorry Sandz, but I'm not to sure that I understand what you are asking. What "pop ups" are you referring to ?

Try resizing the to a smaller file size and see if that helps. There is a maximum file size, I just don't know what it is. If that doesn't work, send me a PM and let me know so I can ask William to look into this for you
