Default Best val for a 55

What is the best vallisneria for a 55 gallon tank(48inchesX12inchesX21inches). I don't want it to grow along the entire surface but something that maxed out at 3ish feet would be good.

That's quite a length. You're in gigantea territory then.

From what I have seen some vals grow way past the length they should, I have seen some pictures of 6 foot vals, I just don't want them getting that long.

How do you trim them? Do you just cut them to the desired length? Finally how to do get them to spread?

to my knowledge they are the type of plant that can reach most any height...and to trim is chop em' down.

in my research prior to buying they are fairly easy to grow with not much demand. so unless you've got crazy co2/ferts/lights going on. you'll only have to trim every few months.

so it becomes mmore of what thickness of val. you'd like to see. personally I enjoyed the thinner 'italian'
