Been a while but thought I would share me new setup and idea's
As above its been a while. I posted a few years back when i got my first ever tank, a 120L. Been good, My RTBS and Tiger Angel are fully grown and are great, only 3 of my original 10 Tiger Barbs left :( and only 1 of my original 4 Rainbow Dwarfs :( don't really know why I lost some, they were all gradually as well, never a single incident or anything and one rainbow managed to jump out of the temp tank I kept them in for 48 hrs when I did a full "service and over haul" on my tank. I felt very ashamed and sad and I wish i hadn't done it now but i have taken from it an increased consideration for how i look after them and maintain the tank so i will not let things like that happen again!
Anyway recently a lot has happened got my dream job and a new house. So i thought i would treat myself and get the tank ive always dreamed of, well since i started keeping fish anyways :P The "Oak" series tanks from Maidenhead Aquatics are some of the best tanks, for homes, i have ever seen. I originally wanted the 180cm 420L and that is the one i went in to buy, but when i was in there and looking at the range in person I just kept getting drawn to the 150cm 310L "doors and draws" model. It just looked like better as a piece of furniture but also as a tank. The 420L actually looked like a cheaper design although im sure it isnt so i bought the 150cm 310L \o/ yay me.
Got a great deal on an Eheim 2173 Pro 3 350T £255inc VAT, delivery and all the media and accessories. Very happy with that! Just got to get a light system figured out now, off the shelf units are ridiculous in price so gonna have a think and see if i cant rig something up myself, all that matters is I use the right tubes, the rig is secondary so i may be able to knock something reasonable up! Lol i say with a glint of hope!
Also going for a fully heavily planted tank, with a full hairgrass carpet some landscaping and a wall of plants at the back instead of a 3D background. I have the Juwel rock effect one now in my 120L and it looks great but i want a full natural tank as i want to plow my time into something rather than eating :D. The tank arrives Monday so its place in my living room is ready and waiting!!!! My wife is not interested at all so you guys are the only ones i can tell hehehe. So ill take photos as i go and show you all how i get on. oooh cant wait.Be Bold, Be Bloody, Be Resolute. \o/
