  1. Default Making sure new tank is level

I am a beginner and this is my first tank

I recently purchased a 55 gallon tank and wood stand from someone on Craigslist. I assume the best way to verify there are no leaking issues is to fill the tank with water.

I put in 10 gallons of water and put a level on the tank

as you can see the bubble is off just a bit. The tank and stand are on a hardwood floor. Is this enough to cause a potential issue with stressing the glass and breaking?

It likely won't cause any problems, but then again, it would be really easy to shim the bottom of the stand on the low side to get it even more level.

Have you checked for level from front to back as well ?
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

    +1 Cliff.

Also the more level the tank is the better it will look filled. Having water above the black rim on one side and not on the other would make me unhappy.
A level tank (side to side and front to back), is a beautiful tank.
Warning; Bulldog Pleco guarding my Sons tank now..

Please remember; every keystroke has a consequence.
