In level tank
Finally setting up living room tank, just a 20 long. So I havve carpet and for a trial run before putting it on the stand, I put about 5 gallons and is un-level. So. I was gonna go old school and use cardboard cut outs to even it up. Will that be a lifetime solution? Sounds dumb but this will be a nice tank and don't want to half it anyway

You should level the stand and not the tank. The tank needs to sit flush on the stand or the uneven pressures may cause a leak over time
Set up the tank on the stand and place a level on top of the tank. Shim the legs of the stand with some solid shims. I have always used the composite shims used to doors and windows.
