male not wrapping female long enough
I have about 8 males that I have raised from fry's . They are 11 months old. I have had successful spawns before , but now that I'm using my bettas they will not wrap the female long enough so she will release her eggs. I have left them together for hours ( watching all the time to make sure he isn't to aggressive). I use different females and it's the same almost every time.
He seems more concerned about keeping his bubblenest in good shape that taking care of the female. They have been conditioned and both are ready, she has her egg spot and he builds the nest. The female will go back to him over and over , the male will wrap her briefly then he will be motionless which she should be doing, then he goes back to building his nest
Appreciate any advice . have great success raising angelfish but betta's are a different story

At least you're getting some attempts from the male. I have one beautiful pink-blue-purple-cream DT/CT mix male whom I have tried to breed, but he will not cooperate at all.
The probability of being watched is directly proportional to the stupidity of the act
