    Added benghai cardinal and two peppermint shrimp last week. One of the shrimp died on day two, it was pregnant, maybe the added stress of the move did it in. Everything else is active and eating well. Nitrates are low 20s.

    Nitrates should be down around zero if you can manage it...what kind of water are you using for water changes/top-up?
    Sorry if that was mentioned earlier in the thread but I can't remember and I'm too lazy to read 8 pages...shrimp are the "canary" of any tank...if one of those dies its cause for concern...

    I use chemi-pure elite for water conditioning, and in the past I've also used purigen for nitrate control. However, I use these because I don't run a skimmer.

    How much are you feeding and hos much water are you changing every week

    Also, if you are using tap water to make your salt water, have you tested your tap water for nitrates ?
    If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.
