I thought we had the discussion not too long ago about your filter? Maybe im wrong and its another person, but more than likely that filter is not enough for that tank and whatever fish you have.

You should be able to see if there is any water current on the surface coming out of the filter. If you see current, the filter is working.
There will always be poop on the bottom, no matter how many filters you have going. My guess, is depending on how stocked your tank is and with what kind of fish, your filter is not adequate to handle the load (no pun intended).
Having said that, poop is a fact of life and that is why it is important to clean the gravel when needed. One of the joys of having an aquarium. But, definetely look into getting another filter, better yet, get 2 really good filters such as AquaClear AC70's or even AC110's depending on your stock.A Grumpy German Is A Saurkraut!

Agreed that the stock filter will never be enough once you add more fish.
8 tanks running now:
1x 220 gallon, 2x55 gallon, 1x40 gallon long, 1x29 gallon, 1x20 gallon long, 1x5.5 gallon, 1x2 gallon
Gouramis, barbs, rasboras, plecos, corys, tetras, fancy guppies, swordtails, ottos, rainbow shark, upside-down catfish, snails, and Max and Sparkles the bettas.
