Hi, so where i live is in the middle of a heat spell and i noticed my tanks water reaching 85 degrees for more then 5 hours throughout the day. Im getting worried because its not even summer yet abd my tanks temp is getting pretty high. Would buying a power head help keep the tank cool? Im not sure where i can buy a chiller whre i live so im looking for some alternatives.29 Gallon

What temp is your house at? A power head will actually raise the temp since the motor is in the water.
You could do a few things, during the day keep curtains closed, and leave the tank lights off (have on during the evening when its cooler)
Have AC in that room, or buy a chiller
85 isn't horrible, but its about the highest you could go, and I still think long term exposure to these temps could cause problems.
If the room is cooler than the tank, then take the lids off the tank and that could help keep it cool

If you've got an extra 500 to spend, plus the cost of the electric to run it, and don't mind the [assumed] noise of it, a chiller will work great. Like was said, a power head is going to raise the temp because of the motor. Good advice on how to keep the temp down. Leaving to lights off, top off, and putting a fan blowing across the top of the tank will be your best plan of attack. In my experience, the raise in temp over the summer is no big deal - happens to me every year. Honestly, I'm more concerned for you than your fish - if the ambient air temp is going to get much higher than 85....125 - BGK, pictus cats, silver dollars, kissing gouramis, palmas bichir, delhezi bichir
