+ 1 to firefly; even if you keep the Tiger barbs in a big school to curb their aggresive nature, the Cherry barbs would still be bullied because of the shy nature mentioned.

It's best to get something that will be able to stand up against them and win. If you get a fish like that and plant it well, it should be a good setup.
    Maybe tinfoil barbs would work.

If you want a tiger barb variety here are the kind I know of:

    Moss Green
Red (Quite rare, but I once saw and these are NICE)

And for bottom feeders get a loach that is aggressive when it comes to feeding. Tiger barbs will hog some bottom feeder foods.

This is a 125 gallon tank the OP has, right?? Like I said before, tank size plays a HUGE role in behavior.

School of tigers (if you really want tiger barbs)
    15-20 Cory
    2 BN Pleco
    School of Rosy Barbs

Or if you don't already have the tiger barbs you have endless possibilities

School of rainbows, congo tetras, the list goes on and on
Not set up yet so open but at one time many moons ago I had a school in a 40 though I was *hitting in High Cotton.

Open to suggestions though , kind of letting somebody else do some thinking.

Thanks for the replies so far.

Yes it is and the wife said no I said yes, so I win again guys.

But the last tank I will be setting up so have to make it a good one.

Really want some different plants though as will be about 380 watts of VHO at 10,000 K

No Co2 at the moment I have it all though , except would need to get the bottle refilled.
