    For plants I am thinking:

2 potted crypts per tank (one on each side of the piece of driftwood in the middle
A clump of moss on driftwood
Floating bunch of hornwort or other floating plant

Black construction paper works, but I've never had it last long. Always manage to get it soaked during water changes. Another cheap item you can instead is a black garbage bag. If you use the thicker ply bags, you can apply it to the tank like you would window tint on a car.

Just got lucky, splash of ammonia in each, checked it an hour later and one is at 2ppm and the other is between 1 and 2 ppm. Hooked up the sponge filters and have the tanks set at around 78*

Hopefully going to get some plants this weekend and now I really need to figure out which type of shrimp I want to go with

That looks good. Is there any way you can stand or prop the wood up to give some height?

What plants are you going to introduce?

I might look into it for the lower tank (proping the wood up)

I have hornwort in one tank for now, will introduce moss and thinking either a pair of crypts or cardinal plants in each tank

Any recommendation of which shrimp I could go for? I am thinking of how I can prop the wood up now.... hmmm

Maybe a rock on one side or something... ideas?
