Remember if you are planning on breeding and making a little money out of this it'd be a good idea to have separate nets/buckets for each tank.

The hydor sponge filter you mentioned is a good brand too. Have a few of those as well. Too many different types of sponge filters out there and brands, they all work on the principal. I tend to just get whichever I can get for a better deal.

Picked up the two tanks, glass lids, glass thermometers, and a good piece of driftwood yesterday

The rest is coming with an order from kens, 4 sponge filters, substrate, heaters, and food. I am going to go to salvation army and pick up an old candy dish for a feeding dish. And I need 1 more piece of driftwood and I think I'll have everything

Thanks, the one on the left is the new free one, paid like $20 for the one on the right awhile back. Eventually I can fit a 4th tank. But tanking it "slow" for now, considering I already have 4 10g tanks if you count my qt tank.

    Dumb cycle question:

A guy that I usually talk to about shrimp told me I should dose my ferts while cycling so that I start forming algae... Will that mess the cycle up at all? I plan to do a fishless cycle

I don't think it will interfere with the cycle. You probably only need to dose once. I've always cycled a tank with plants in it so I dose at the start but probably not again until a couple of weeks later or until I do the first big water change. Plants will enjoy a bit of ammonia so I'm not sure how necessary it really is, but won't hurt in my opinion.
