If its your 15 gallon then I'd suggest getting a sponge filter instead of another HOB. It will give better biological filtration the a HOB due to more area on the sponge plus it will help with aeration if that's a concern.

i don't have a 15. only a 20. it is half stocked because it has limited filtration. want to add another hob because i have one stored up.

Not sure where I got a 15 gallon from... Never post when your tired right after work I guess If you want to use the other HOB the only option you have to take a saw to it.

I sawed off a the plastic on my tank cover to make room for another HOB on my 30 gal. wasn't too hard, I used an electric saw.

the reason asked for tank size was because in the smaller thanks its super easy to add too much current in the tank by adding an extra HOB. but a 20g should be fine with 2 smaller hobs. or just upgrade to an aquaclear 50 lol

I would have just increased the filter you had. A 20 gallon tank should not require two filters but what's done is done.

    I agree.

Too, if you were to convert to a glass top, you can cut the back strip to whatever you want it to be, and replacements are cheap should you later decide to go with a different setup.

i would if i didn't have an extra filter lying around doing nothing!
i like the idea of 1 large filter but i don't wanna pay 60 or something dollars for it.
