I had all four done at once. One they had to cut a small section of jaw bone in order to get it out. Vannilla pudding and room temo mashed potatoes are good.

I got all mine done at once for cost. Paying four times for the anesthia was not in the budget.

I also had all 4 done at once. I think the best thing I ended up eating was bannana pudding. Also get away from any candy like jolly ranchers or lollipops... anything sucked on will do the same thing FM said. I had 4 socket dry socket... AVOID IT...

Also a neck pillow will help you. I have to sleep propped up due to some seriously bad heartburn and couldnt do it without my neck pillow... best 5 dollar walmart purchase ever.

Food wise... I think its best to stick with warm soups and puddings... I made the mistake of eating rice... got logged in the socket and infected.

Good luck! I hope you feel better! Also for a quick numbing if the pain killers wear off.. Vicks Chloraseptic spray is a topical numbing agent that works fast.

It sounds like puddings are the way to go...I may end up very fat!

I do feel a bit better knowing you've all been through this - what annoying things wisdom teeth are!

Wow...seems strange to have them removed if you didn't need them to. That sucks.

I've been referred to hospital twice for mine and the first referral was 10 years ago by an overly cautious dentist. The surgeon took one look at the x-rays and said it was too risky to remove them when they didn't know for sure if they'd cause me problems (the extraction can bruise and damage a key nerve in your jaw which is responsible for sensation in your cheek, chin and tongue). They'd only remove ones obviously causing problems - otherwise they leave well alone. I've had one pulled already by the dentist (very easy and quick) that was growing out sideways. Now I'm having the two lower ones seen to by a surgeon. The other one is up in my sinuses somewhere and no where near coming through so that will be ignored until it decides to be a problem. Next one is due out on 17th May. Tick tock.

Can't remember when I had mine taken out, several years ago to be sure. Getting the bottom ones taken out was not bad at all for me. Can only recall one of my upper ones giving me problems. Soft foods are best and soups, nothing that requires too much chewing. Think baby foods for adults. Just a few bad days and then gets better. Best not to forget either and accidentally drink something sour or soda and spitting it out in the middle of the night and yelling.

His country and ours are quite different when it comes to health care and the way they see some procedures.

Do try to go in for the next one as calm as possible, the less you tense up, the less it's going to hurt.

My dentist tells me that I'm most likely going to have to have my bottom two wisdom teeth pulled. I'm 27 and they never grew in all the way. For years they've been pushing through in fits and starts, hurting like hell every time, but there's no room in my lower jaw for them to grow in fully, and they're not in good shape. Exactly when is still up in the air, though. Mom's not sure we'll be able to afford it since it's something like $1,200 per tooth, judging by what it cost when my younger sister had hers removed.

And your insurance doesn't cover it? The less deep they have to dig for them the less it will hurt.

Ahhhhhh...my other half is cooking himself a sausage sandwich and it smells so good! But I can't eat it

I think I'm becoming obsessed with the foods I cannot have. I'm fantasizing about a big homemade burger in a crusty bun, with tomato, red onion, bacon and stilton. Gah...
