Unhappy Food Suggestions for Post Wisdom Tooth Surgery

    0 Not allowed!
I'm recovering from the surgical extraction of an impacted wisdom tooth at the moment. It was a fairly straightforward extraction under local anaesthetic but did involve bone drilling. Feeling very sore and quite sorry for myself (and my fiance says I'm looking like Marlon Brando from The Godfather at the moment!) - not least because I have to go through it all again in a month to have the other one out.

I'm trying to plan my meals for the next few days. Does anyone have any suggestions? So far I've had risotto, porridge, soup with very soft white bread pieces soaked in it, and crucially - ice cream! Anything else that might be good?

Oh dear.. that takes me back. Not exactly fond memories. I was back on solids by the second day though.

Hmm.. don't know if you believe in herbal remedies but this will certainly help and for the second one you can start taking it the day before you go in: http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pag...d=1128&cid=173

Err.. back to the original question baked beans without toast? A nice lentil stew. Pasta well cooked.

If it's only for a few days, just keep eating the foods you listed.

And if you have a blender, just blend up an apple and some other fruit to add to your list.

Pudding, scrambled eggs, jello, yogurt, creamy peanut butter (sandwich with no crust), spaghetti with sauce (no meatballs), mac n' cheese, non-lumpy mashed potatoes

There is actually quite a bit you can eat.

Thanks for suggestions - bananas is a good idea. I think it might take a week to be back to normal foods as I have stitches, so I don't want to get bored with food (I love food!)

Herbal remedies - not really my thing. Homeopathy has either:
    - not been proved to work; or
    - been proven not to work.

There is no evidence that it is any better than placebo so it won't work for me! A multi-million pound industry though.

Been there done that. Not fun.
Sounds like you've got lots of good suggestions.
Here's a warning: Don't use a straw to drink or eat anything. You could dislodge your clots and end up with a dry socket. been there, done that too. REALLY not fun
Good luck and I hope you heal fast.

That's sound advice thanks. I sipped water through a straw yesterday, but that was mostly because half my face was still numb so I couldn't drink without dribbling! I'll not use a straw any more.

What I am finding difficult is sleeping. I naturally prefer my left side but my face is too swollen to sleep on my left!

Oh the joy! I was 18 when they pulled all five, two sides had roots and one had none. I remember they asked me what I wanted for pain and being a tough guy at the time said; "I'll just take aspirin if I need it". They said I'd need something alot stronger so they wrote a persciption for Demeral. I was joking with my Mom that they were crazy; when they the novacain wore off. Worst pain in my life!! Needless to say I used the perscription.

Soup and Ice cream was about all I ate for a week. Went from 165 to 155 in those seven days.

Hope your recovery is a swift one.

A well ripened banana, some yoghurt, touch of honey, bit of candied ginger and you got a lovely and healthy smoothy.
