Err.. actually there's quite a few different species. Any decent fish shop over here will have 5-6 different species. This big one has a few more:

tbh i was thinking of staying clear of them, but i wanted something to help control some algae growing on my plants. i know buying a fish for a purpose like that isnt a good thing but im hoping to get over my bn phobia lol. i think its more of my spd that makes me wigged out over them lol. but its something i need to get over eventually so why not start now. PLUS all the other plecos around here will top out 8+" not many small plecos around here and otos will be eaten in my tank

Even the females of some species get some bristles. If you want a shock look at this: http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/...s&image_id=491

don't know what SPD means but I think you did well.

As said they love broccoli. Also cauliflower and for some reason sprouts. I feed mine hikari algae wafers as staple food and pretty much whatever vegetable we humans have.

spd = sensory processing disorder, basically my senses get all sorts of messed up, and i dont process the things the same way other people do. an example, sanding wood causes me to feel like my skin is super dry and splitting. never fun for me.

Great link for veggie/fruit feeding -

    http://www.aquariumadvice.com/veggies-for-your-fish/?/39/1/Veggies-for-your-fish/Page1.html

I do not blanch my veggies as it makes them too soft. I use frozen if at all possible and thaw them for 10 minutes in a bowl of tank water. The only thing I disagree with in the article is the use of fishing line. I would worry that my fish would hurt themselves on it.

Thanks for explaining that. Seems closely related to the sensory integration problems my daughter had when she was little.

One way to figure out what sex it is, is to find someone that has an extremely aggressive male and put them together i have a 2" BN that im 90% sure it's a female since it was going since birth in my uncle's one tank were he have a BN that has killed every male he have put in there for the past 3 years and it's large enough to keep atleast 3 males without problems this one was still alive had no scars like another at the same size that had a huge scar from being attacked by the big male.

This is a risky test but it will work but you can lose your BN if your unlucky.

From my experience and friends experience are that you can determine the sex of the BN at about 7 month of age if they have not gone in a small tank so it grows very slowly, it should be at least 3" inches and 7 month to make a exact match, but it can also be a male without growing large whiskers but that only happens if the tank are not large enough to hold 2 alpha males. The minor of the males will not grow whiskers to keep the alpha male less aggressive towards it.

This is only from my own and friends experience which is quite little so it can just be us that has faced this
