    Question Crossing ram strains

    0 Not allowed!
    Hello my fellow fishkeepers !!
i have three strains of ram cichlids gold, german blue and longfin golds and sucessfully bred and raised german blues and golds in the past
i intend to try crossing the long fins with the regular golds and i have tried crossing the golds with the german blues with limited success
can anyone show or tell me of successful crossings between the strains in particular the long fin ?

Gold rams are just GBR which have been selective bred for color differences. The same goes for long finned rams. By cross breeding you are just muddling up the strains back to the origional gbr and will most likley get a mix of population you would have to grow out and determine what lines came through. You cross a long finned gold with a standard gold, you will get a mix of both.. some deformities to cull and some that wont look great. Punnett square it and you will get your percentages approximate if you know the base genes of the fish.

yea i know that much , but i really wanted to see the probable outcome of these crosses before i actually perform them , i may also get some electric blues but i'll keep that line pure

Write out the table assuming it's a recessive, you can confirm that after the first few batches.
