I hear ya there. I moved mine from my 29 to my 55 and wish I wouldn't have now because I never see them and I have 15 of them. But look at the cost of stocking a tank that large with all small fish. Yikes. 200 + $5 each?

He could also have Tiger, Albino's, Rosie and Green Barbs if he wanted some barb variety.

WHERE THE HECK ARE YOU GETTING YOUR CHERRY BARBS???? lol, the most I have ever paid for a cherry barb is $1 lol. Tigers are also $1 lol. Hobbs, I think you need to roadtrip to NY to save some money on fish if those are the prices you pay

But I do agree some variety is needed for a 125g

I've noticed that people HATE it when you point out how stupid they are, so now I try to do it politely.

Another way to go would be Cardinals and Rummy noses. Or Cardinals and Lemon tetras.

No Cardinals thanks, the Tiger barb school sounds cool.

    Any more suggestions?

Will be getting the tank up soon.

How about a large school of denison barbs along with a large school of mostly male odessa barbs.

I think those colors would look great against a planted tank background

If you want to consider something other than barbs, you could look into a very large school of congo tetras
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

Have to look up these Congo tetras.

The wood is in, part of it most of the Gravel ,and the bulbs and ballasts.

So leaves some plants and few bags more of gravel and off we go.

    Thanks so much so far.

Looked at the Congo Tetras, nobody local sells them.

    A nice fish indeed.

Petco used to have them but no more.

    The search goes on.

Okay I am getting ready most stuff in.

How does this sound for the Bottom.

A light layer of that Black Diamond stuff, followed by another light layer of Fluorite , followed by a Cap of Eco-complete.

I am pretty much set in how I am going to do it , but willing to listen to other opinions.

    Think it will work?

Plus starting on Dry Ferts soon.

Have just about all I think I will need.

    Thanks

+1 to a large denison school

Substrate sounds good, what dry ferts do you plan to start dosing?
