    Default Firemouths and Threadfin Acaras

Could an adult firemouth and adult threadfin acara(preferably both males) live together in a 55 gallon tank. Other tankmates are 1 male bristle nose pleco, and 10 black skirt tetras(that I will probably get rid of). I am also considering adding a school of 6 brochis splendens, from what I have read they are pretty hardy and willing to put up with some cichlid aggression. Also is it okay to keep both of these cichlids singly(not in pairs or groups). I all ready have some baby firmouths(4) but if I could get a threadfin I would sell 3 of them, keeping the most colorful(wether it be a male or female).

Given propper territories, 1m FM and 1m Acara can work. Same with the emerald corries, you shouldnt have much aggression to them as they dont threaten the territory or look like an imposition. Also, the fish can be kept as a single fish.

Acaras mix well with other medium sized semi aggressive cichlids in my experience

Would the firemouth nip at the threadfin acara's fins or the other way around?

They arent going to nip, they will create a territory and defend it. Small fish nip, big fish bite! I dont think you are going to have issues. A FM is usually peacefull unless breeding and acaras are the most laid back semiagressive I have seen.
