Two of my new peppered corys like to clean the sponge in the intake of my filter. Is this a normal behavior?

Mine do the same thing, I think they go after the larger pieces of uneaten food that cannot fit through the sponge.

    It's not abnormal.

Is this a QT tank? I ask because 10G is not an appropriate tank size for 5 adult peppered cories. It doesn't contain the footprint they require when grown.

What are your long term plans for these guys?

Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.
Why pretend there are no stupid questions? Actually, There are many stupid questions: "Should I drink this bleach?" Is just one example.
Having said that, Just because it's a stupid question doesn't mean that it shouldn't be asked. It's better to know.

No, it's not a QT tank. I plan to move them to a 75g along with five more peppered cories.

It's not weird. An established sponge will not only attract leftovers but will also have all sorts of interesting micro things grow on it. If you ever get fry from them you'll see the same behaviour.
