An FYI about giant/king bettas and thier siblings
As many of you know, I got a bunch of betta fry in December. Most of them I shipped out to good homes, but I kept six. Four females, two males. All are very healthy and happy as far as I can tell. I have a mix of what appears to be giants, half giants, and regular size. Their parents were both American giants (3 inches or so).
But, if anyone is ever searching for care on king or giant bettas, it should be noted that these guys need SIGNIFICANTLY more food than their regular counterparts. Like, twice that. This seems to go for both the big guys, the medium ones, and the regular sized offspring of giant parents. I feed full meals, about 6 or 8 pellets, twice a day, sometimes more. And nobody's fat. They love to eat! Also, these guys are plakats, which means they are more active since they aren't held back by large finnage. That may figure in too. But I am just amazed that my fish are full grown now and they still need so much food.
So, feed your giants! Feed your half giants! If you got a baby from me, feed him or her!Beth

3 - 10 to 20 gallon planted betta tanks
My advice: slow down, think, and be willing to learn. Then you'll be fine, no matter what.

Still annoyed I couldn't have one, and I don't think you ever got back to Icy about one despite all my poking at you.
The probability of being watched is directly proportional to the stupidity of the act
