Holy crap, Judi... incredible. Are you cursed or are you blessed? Get those other tanks and start selling! ;P You have 3 mated pairs now, right?

I know this is too little too late but there is no need to clean the roots of your pothos. If you plan on doing this again, I'd just cut the root stock right off so you'll end up with just the stems. Wedge them into the egg crate so the cut ends touch the water. Soon enough you'll have roots to the bottom of your tank.

You know what this tank needs? ........................ Crypts.

Oooooh...now that would have been much easier!!! You would think the husband who is a greenhouse grower could have mentioned that. I may still give that a try, thank you!

LOL You'll have to do it and then tell him it was your idea! Pull one over on him. ;)

Thanks Per, I definitely have been blessed with great fish. The eggs didn't last long though, my one checkerboard turq decided they looked quite tasty so a battle ensued (I was panicked so of choose didn't video it) but it was down and dirty and the turq won and ate the eggs. I felt so bad but I realize this is just what happens in their world. Ten minutes later another pair (the pair that normally has to be separated) starting cleaning a spot and doing some runs...it never ends.

I was pointing at the trouble maker discus when I caught him being too territorial and the little bugger came right up to the glass and started that "slapping" motion at me!!! Gave me a giggle have to admit :p

I love this idea of the pothos and think I'm going to try it also. I always have cuttings as I like my house plants to stay more compact - I don't like them trailing.

My 40B has only silk plants in there except for one large anubias because of the 2 silver dollars I have. Would anybody know if the SD's would eat the pothos roots, or are they just in love with the green parts of plants?
