Leaving light on in the Sump is fine as you are promoting things that eat the nitrate. With the propper plants and all that though, you will no have to deal with it as the plants will grow as you said, like crazy. Just have to prune them about 2 times a week once they get going.

Ill put you on the list for those who want some when they get to the age of breeding.

On yellows - you need to be selective. I prefer the Crystal red eye yellows. They stay more yellow and with feeding a mix of marigold powder in the food, you will allow that color to really shine. THere are also some milinium pigoen strains that are a nice bright yellow striation.

    Christmas in May!! Yay!!

I remember when my 75 gal showed up; they called and asked me where I wanted to get it, home or work, I said "never mind; I'd come and get it".

I really did feel like a kid at Christmas when the truck pulled up!! It's gonna be a long process getting it all ready but I'm really excited about the whole journey

So, it's here and boy the one thing I underestimated was just how much that tank was gonna weigh empty...my husband and I had no problem with the 45 gallon, piece of cake...I think the delivery driver said the tank & stand weighed about 500 pounds!!! It took five strong guys and me to carry the tank from my driveway over a bridge for a dry creek bed down 15 three foot wide stairs into my basement and through two rooms (narrow doorways) to get it to the spot its in. It still has to be moved about another 3 feet due to a new window being installed shortly (tank came 2 weeks early). I'm exhausted but soooooooo happy!

The only issue right now is that I'm not going to be able to paint the "sand like" bottom on the tank...there is no way I can get another 5 people to lift the tank again and somehow turn it over to paint then come back and lift it onto the stand again. I would leave it bare bottom but unfortunately until the tank was in place and some of the packing removed I could not see the tape on the bottom of the tank glass prior to putting it back on the stand (face palm big time). So I'm going to have to go with a thin layer of sand that would be suitable for a Discus tank that needs to be vacuumed a lot.

This is the tape, there's about 8 of them going around the outside bottom of the tank :(

Man I have been using 2nd hand tanks for so long I forgot how gorgeous an new tank looks. Great tank! I still think its doable to take it off the stand and paint it but either way, you know what your limitations are. Are you painting the stand? Everything looks so nice and clean! Looking forward to this build!
