Default Trouble Getting Them to Eat

As many of you know I recieve my 3 Three Lined Apistos yesterday. Today they're all healthy and actively swimming around the tank, occasionally even leaving the bottom hemisphere of the tank. However so far I have been unable to get them to eat.. They're very tiny, 2 being 3/4" long, and 1 of them being an inch. I tried feeding the crushed pellets and they ate small bits but since they've never been fed pellet food they only went for the food that floated in front of their face...which rarely happened.. Instead I moved onto frozen bloodworms, which proved to be too large for them. They ate a couple but really struggled to swallow them, and like the pellet food they only went for the worms when I used a turkey baster to squirt the worms near them..

What I'm asking is does anyone know any really small live foods? I need something small but still visible. The seller told me he fed them live brine shrimp, but there's no where around me that you can purchase live brine shrimp from nor the eggs to breed them.. Ughhh my babies just need to eat something, their stomachs are looking so empty.

if they will take frozen bloodworms then they surely will take frozen brine shrimp. if it has to move, then grindal worms come to mind but you will have to get a culture of that somewhere.

If you can find frozen baby brine shrimp or smaller blood worms (they come in really small cubes).

As madagas suggested, you can look on aquabid where cultures are sold - I've seen all kinds.

    +1 to the above posts

In addition, it can also take a few days before new fish just added to your tank will feel comfortable in your tank. They may not eat like normal until then
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

    I agree with Cliff

It took 4 days for my GBR in QT to come out of the corner, and eat something.

some don't handle the transport as well as others and it takes them a few days to warm back up

Thanks guys. I'm just worried, they're my first live fish order ever so I'm stressed. They seem healthy and took their trip fine, I ordered priority and they still got here in 2 days sooo. The boy is very active, and the girls ehh still shy and slow but they move. I've seen the boy venture up to the surface and the mid region of the tank so I know he's getting comfortable. I'm going to order some brine shrimp eggs offline and simply hatch some shrimp for them.

I'll feed them live brine shrimp and slowly add some sort of pellet or flake food with the live food. Hopefully overtime I can train them to accept pellet.

Atm all 3 of them have had a bit of crushed pellet food and a whole or half of a bloodworm.. They like the bloodworms, just they're sooo tiny that they have trouble swallowing the worms XD

Would it be reasonable to defrost the frozen bloodworms in a cup with some tank water then scoop it out onto a clean surface (I use disposable plastic plates) chop it up into smaller pieces and try feeding that way? I did this when I had some very small tetras in QT...also, I added a bit of Garlic Xtreme that seemed to help.
