If you haven't trimmed the bag yet and if there's room, just rinse the new biomax in dechlor water and add it to the original bag of biomedia.

Oh heck yeah, there's plenty of room...I'm going to fill it as full as i can (while staying under the water line) and then trim just a bit of the excess bag off...thanks for the tip!

Good. The reason I would rinse in dechlor water is that you are adding it to the existing bag. Maybe it's being overly cautious, but that's what I'd do.

    Hey everybody,
One of the original snails is floating around in the tank, trapdoor is barely open, and his antennae are moving around a bit, sticking out of his shell...he's done this occasionally in the past, but today he has been doing it all day...took him out and put him in a "QT" (just a small bowl of tank water) and did my WWC, put him back in, and still he floats

    Any ideas?...

What kind of snail? Some snails will float around if they're trying to escape something, while some can literally crawl along the bottom of the surface of the water, to eat algae. Have you tested the params of your tank?

Could also be a sign that his time might be up. How long have you had him? Average lifespan is about 2-3yrs.

If you have a cucumber or zucchini, try adding some to the tank to see if you can coax him to it. He might take...
