Snails happen to the best of us, I wouldn't sweat it. Just take precautions they don't get out of hand and you will hardly notice them in the tank. Unless you are 13 years old and use a magnifying glass.
When I go fishing I just place a sharp rock in the water and sit there waiting for all the dead fish to float to the top... Kingfisher

I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.

Hey guys, a couple of quick questions:

I have room in the AC30 on the 10 gallon for some more bio-max...I'd like to add a bit more since the 4 unexpected platy fry have shown up, and are growing quickly...my thinking is more bio max will mean more area for BB to grow, which should help with the larger bioload I surely have, or am going to have...does that make sense?

I can simply rinse some new bio max and add it to the old, BB infused bio max without affecting my cycled tank, correct?...even with the new fry, I still consistently show water parameters of 0, 0, and about 10, with my WWC's of about 60-70%.

Another question...since I need to buy some more bio max if I'm going to do this, I may as well buy enough to fill the 2 AC50's I plan on using on my upcoming 40 gallon breeder as well...how much should I buy, in your opinion?...something like this, a little over a pound? http://www.amazon.com/Fluval-Biomax-.../dp/B000HHSG5M

Don't necessarily have to buy from Amazon, but we are signed up and pay for "Amazon Prime", but if you guys know of a cheaper place to get it, please let me know...LFS and Petco are usually so high priced on this type of stuff..

Thanks in advance for your replies, opinions, and comments

When I changed canisters and had more available space for bio media all I did was rinse and add to the compartment. Also, I think buying the "bulk" container of media is a great idea and will save some money!

Thanks JudiJetson!....I just remembered, when you buy the AquaClear filters, you get "some" of the bio media with the filter...so I may not need that much...heck, it's not that expensive though

It's always a good idea to have some extra on hand and in your running filters, you never know when that great deal is going to come your way and you need some extra cycled media. hint hint... 65g Just be sure to leave enough room in the filter for oxygenated water to pass around and through the media.

Welcome! You've done such a great job with the tank, it's wonderful to see how it's thriving. Really looking forward to keeping up with the 40 gallon when that gets ready to go!
