[QUOTE=Looks terrible, there's that sore-looking spot, he is pale like I've never seen, and his tail looks torn up...he's currently swimming around lethargically, the other guppy is hanging around him like he always does, but not harrassing him or anything
Any ideas what the heck that was/is?[/QUOTE]
Just got finished treating my tank for the same thing. Lost 5 guppies and an old cardinal tetra over 5 days before I caught on it was not fin nipping induced. Did a ton of reading. Came to the conclusion it was a bacterial and fungal infection. I treated with Furan 2 and paraguard for seven days and a ton of tank cleaning, water changes and increased circulation. I learned "fin rot" can be a symptom, not a disease. Look into Saprolegnia if the problem persists.
Hope I could help. :-)

Sorry about the guppy, Matt. That's a shame. Looked like he got a pretty severe case pretty quickly. For the future, I've had good results with Fungus Guard. Heard good things about Paraguard, as well.

Thanks Kev, I'm going to check which meds Petsmart keeps when I go get my otos, and grab something then

I’m so sorry to hear that you and Lauren have lost a guppy.
You are so kind, Matt. My kids and I are SUPER excited, too!

Thanks Rivers, and no prob wwith the snails!...there's a couple of them that the shells are appearing to stay mostly yellow...but only a few with the cream colored bodies...
I'll have them for awhile, at least until you can get yours...my yellow swirl one I'm putting into the 40B eventually is getting big, hopefully getting big enough before long to be able to out run the assassins, lol

LOL, me either...just need the glass canopy and the LED, and we can go for it
Lee, it's crazy that Lauren and me haven't really sat down and discussed the fish we are interested in or thinking about adding...you'd think during summer break we'd have more time together, but now we're never home at the same time, lol
