  1. Default 55g stocking change.

Before I start, here was my stocking plan: 6 zebra loaches, 6 Madagascar rainbowfish, 12 tiger barbs, 2 cichlids and 2 zebra plecos. The tank is 48 long, 13 in width, and 20 in height(inches).
After having the tiger barbs and loaches only for 2 weeks due to the rainbowfish not being in stock, I found that the tiger barbs are way too aggressive and are food hogs. Not good for the fish I wanted them with. They were all returned yesterday in perfect health. I have made a new stocking list that will hopefully work:

    6 Madagascar rainbowfish
    8-12 tetra(a 2-3 inch tetra)
    1 pearl gourami
    1 chocolate gourami
    1-2 angelfish
Along with the loaches & plecos.

The loaches act very nice and enjoy the driftwood and rocks I have supplied. I am also getting a deal on the plecos for $40 or less. Will purchase these soon.

Before I ask more, are these compatible and if so, what may I have to worry about in the future?

Tetra would be either a Congo tetra or a penguin tetra.

I have never had both angels and gourami in the same tank but I would research this more. Something tells me the two may not get along.
Also you will have to supplement food for the loaches & plecos since it's a newer set-up and only 55 gallons. Fresh veggies for the plecos for sure. Make sure you have enough hiding places for the bottom dwellers. Fish fighting for a home make a hobbyist unhappy.
Warning; Bulldog Pleco guarding my Sons tank now..

I had wrote this thread down three times already, but kept losing it when researching on another page, I kinda rushed this post and forgot to include that. Yes, I do have a lot of bottom dweller areas, 4 total so far and I am going to improve on rocks soon. Ill also stick to just 1 angel if these will work.

So everything is good except the angel and gourami is a maybe. Ill research this.

Just researched this. From what I read, it matters what type of gourami it is, and that it is best to put them both in at the same time. Also the better the environment, the more likely it is to work. Since the pearl gourami isn't at all aggressive, it will probably work.

I can arrange this and if one is mean to the other, I can move one into my 6x8ft 200g tropical pond, which is fixing to have some fish removed so there will be more room.

I'm going to start out with 6 Congo tetra, but hopefully I will be also able to fit in 6 penguin tetra. Anyone think this could work or should I just stick with 8 or 10 Congo tetra?

Also, would a pearl gourami need a cave?

Someone please answer these 2 questions before I purchase the gourami & tetras.

The Pearl gourami does not need a cave. I would go with 8 congo tetras.

Ok thanks and I also realized earlier today that 8/10 Congo tetras would be the best option. Thanks, ill update when I'm done.
