    oh i have an oak desk, just wanting to know as the previous owner has about 100 cinder blocks in back yard

    i used something similar for my 55g tank, but i had a full length board under it made from 2 2x6s
    KING OF THE GOLD BARBS RAWR!!!!
    I wonder if i plant one of my tiger barbs would the demon seed grow to a full tree?

    There is no question that the blocks will handle the 600 plus pounds of a 55, I have foolishly held up cars with cinder blocks. I am inclined to agree with those who say that you should run a couple of 2x4s lengthwise down the edges of the tank to distribute the weight more evenly and to reduce the slight chance that it might buckle in the middle. The extra 6 dollars for 2 construction studs is well worth the peace of mind. Most aquariums are only supported by the stand around the bottom rim anyway seeing as the rim is lower than the glass on the bottom of the tank, but it is around the entire perimeter. As far as a dresser- most of them are on legs which may at some point cause you a headache seeing as all that weight will be on 4 very tiny pieces of wood, problematic especially on a rug.
    When in d0ubt read it until it makes sense, then read it again!
