    Default Clown fish question;

    I have read that Clowns should be kept alone or as a mated pair in the same tank. But I have also read that different species of Clown fish of different sizes can get along in a tank. The question is; Do you think a Tomato Clown will let a smaller Ocerllaris Clownfish be in a 55 gallon reef tank with 60 pounds of live rock or will the gamble be disappointment? The Tomato Clown is around 2 inches and only hanging around it's anemone at the far left of the tank. Even though it is the largest fish in the tank it doesn't wander or show aggression to the firefish or yellow-tailed Damsel. But it is the newest member of my reef (3rd day in the tank).

    Based on what I have read, Tomato clown fish can be aggressive. Our SW LFS actuall will not put them in tanks with other fish due how aggressive the can get sometimes with other smaller fish

    It can be a risk, but that is only what I have read. I have never kept tomato clowns before
    If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

    Thanks Cliff. I will hold off on a second Clown for now to see how the Tomato Clown interacts with the others that are already in the tank.

    After watching the Tomato Clown for just over a week I have come to the conclusion that adding another Clown would not be a good idea.
    The Tomato spends almost 100% of his/her time in the anemone which is cool to watch. But should anything get within 10 inches of this place, the Clown comes out like lightening to challenge it.
    When I went to move the anemone from the glass so I could put it on another rock which didn't touch the rear glass, that little fish came at my hand without fear and just didn't hit and run but played on my finger like he was using a chain saw. He meant business let me tell ya.
    I was cleaning the front glass tonight with a magnet type cleaner and he nailed the plastic every time it went by his territory.
    The Clown gets along with both fire-fish and the yellow-tailed damsel but if another clown should try and move in on the anemone I'm thinking it wouldn't be a friendly event. One Clown in this tank is enough.
